I believe that if we have emotional trauma that we do not deal with, eventually it shows in the physical body. My own experience of cancer I believe was due to the loss of my Grandmother four years before it started. I did not deal with the shock or grief of losing her and I was angry because of certain situations  that occurred.

Cancer eats away at the body, my unresolved emotions were eating away on a physical level. I have worked with many people that have had cancer and each time we go two to five years back in their lives, we find that they either had a shock, loss or trauma of some kind.
